Nato nel 1952, ha studiato letteratura a Marburg e Amburgo. È stato docente all'Università di Amburgo e all'Università di Roma "La Sapienza" dal 1985 al 1991. Autore di biografie. Giornalista televisivo dal 1983 per ARD, ZDF, 3sat, arte. Nel 1999 ha fondato la casa di produzione cinematografica "Zauberbergfilm Berlin", volta con particolare attenzione ai documentari culturali. Autore di numerosi documentari, tra cui "Wohin denn ich. Der arme Hölderlin, NDR 1985; "Kriminalgeschichte einer Verfälschung. Der Fall Friedrich Nietzsche", ZDF 1999; "Der Kreuzzug der Kinder" (insieme a Martin Papirowski) ZDF, arte 2006; "Einmal einen Mönch vergiften. Umberto Eco" BR, arte 2007; "Class Reunion in Tuscany. Der junge deutsche Film" (insieme a Natalie Schulz) WDR, 3Sat 2008; "Richard Strauss. Das umstrittene Musikgenie,, mdr, arte 2014; "Branford Marsalis. The Soundillusionist" hr, arte 2016; "Alexander Kluge. Der Universalkünstler aus Halberstadt“ mdr 2018.
Produttore, Creative Producer
Georg Tschurtschenthaler, nato a San Candido (Italia) e residente a Berlino, lavora da oltre 15 anni come produttore creativo, autore e showrunner nell'industria del lungometraggio e del documentario. In carriera ha ottenuto circa 25 crediti per il suo lavoro su progetti di Non-Fiction, principalmente per il mercato internazionale. E' cofondatore delle società di produzione di Bolzano Echo Film. Nel 2013 si è distinto per il Premio Grimme, il più importante premio televisivo tedesco, come produttore creativo per "Lebt wohl, Genossen! (Addio, compagni). Nel 2014 è stato nominato per gli Emmy Awards con "The Wagner Files". Nel 2019 ha ricevuto il Grimme Award come produttore creativo per il documentario, premiato al Sundance Festival, "The Cleaners".
The Valley, feature length documentary realised by ZeLIG graduate Nuno Escudeiro, with a team of mainly ZeLIG graduates (above all Nikolaus von Schlebrügge as DOP and Beatrice Segolini as Editor), received the Emerging International Filmmaker Award at the recent edition of the Hot Docs International Documentary Film Festival, which took place in Toronto, Canada, few days ago.
A group of ZeLIG graduates will have the World Premieres of their newest Feature Length Documentaries in the next days, at the Hot Docs International Documentary Film Festival and at DOK.fest Munich.
The 2019 edition of the Trento Film Festival is going to start, and ZeLIG will present two recent productions.
Giovedì 2 maggio, a partire dalle 19.00h, la ZeLIG sarà presente all'interno del programma di "in.con.tra. - Festival delle Relazioni" di Verona.
Mercoledì 17 aprile, dalle ore 19.00h, presso "Le Serre" ai Giardini Margherita a Bologna, in via Castiglione 134, ci sarà una presentazione della ZeLIG.

Two ZeLIG Films will be presented during the next edition of the Bolzano Film Festival Bozen 2019.
