Trilingual Studies Studies at ZeLIG are trilingual. Classes areconducted in German, Italian and English. ZeLIG is a meetingplace for students and teachers from around the world, bringingtogether a wealth of diverse outlooks and working methods. Animportant part of ZeLIG’s mission is its creative focus on this
multi-lingual, multi-cultural tradition.

School Philosophy ZeLIG does not follow any one single schoolof documentary filmmaking, but encourages students to exploredifferent styles, esthetic approaches and traditions. Instructors fromGerman, Italian and English-speaking countries offer students a livelyapproach to international cinema and television culture. By covering all aspects of film production, ZeLIG does not train specialists in one field only, but rather prepares students to work as camera operators, editors and directors with technical and dramaturgical skills which may be put to use throughout the audiovisual industries.
All ZeLIG instructors are active professionals in the film and television sectors, and offer students direct feeback from the real world on the latest developments in the audiovisual market. ZeLIG training aims to prepare students for the job market, providing them with the tools for a quick and easy entry into the professional world.

Length of Studies ZeLIG offers a three-year training program. Coursework is full-time.

Programme Structure The first year of the programme covers basic training in directing, cinematography, sound, the history of documentary film, dramaturgy, production. Years two and three focus on the development of each student’s specialization: directing/project development, cinematography/lighting, and editing/post-production. The third year is dedicated exclusively to the completion of a student thesis film. During their studies, all students must complete an internship lasting at least two months.

Qualification ZeLIG issues professional qualification diplomas (Level IV Dec. 16-7-1985 nr. 85/368 EWG) in the three majors offered by ZeLIG school. The ZeLIG diploma is officially recognized by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, the Republic of Italy and the European Union.

International Contacts and Projects ZeLIG is a member of the European and International Associations of Cinema and Television Schools (GEECT and CILECT), the German and Italian documentary associations (a.g.dok and doc/it), and the European Documentary Network (EDN). Such broad-based, international contacts make ZeLIG a lively laboratory of experiences and ideas in continuous development.
